On Florida’s lower east coast “Florida Boy” fishermen call the Atlantic Ocean “out front.” The water quickly gets deeper and deeper further from the beach, and the water depth is an easy way to tell how far out you are. “Out Front” in Broward County features two of the landmarks the fishermen frequently use that always tickle me — “the Steeple” which is a church and “the Stink Hole,” which is the City of Hollywood’s sewage outfall near Sheridan Street.
