Tallahassee’s Lake Jackson is right in town, and the Miller’s Landing boat ramp is where I like to enjoy happy hour with one of my best friends. We probably do it about four times a year, and while we let the dogs run, we joke about calling it our favorite bar. We have met some interesting men down there coming and going into the lake with kayaks or fishing gear! Instead of a band, we watch the sky and the yellow water lilies. As the sun starts going down, the light changes dramatically and, slowly but surely, the yellow petals of the water lilies begin to close up for the night. The show is always fresh—especially because the water lily leaves change seasonally—from bright green in the summer to a kind of greenish purple in the winter.
