No, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge spanning Tampa Bay is not actually that obvious from the Rod & Reel Pier. When you walk the length of the pier to get a grouper sandwich in the upstairs restaurant, you can see it, but it’s a faint silhouette on the horizon. And that’s only on a clear day. But this is the way I remember it, and this is relevant because every time I return I am so surprised that the bridge isn’t more defined in the landscape. It’s not just me. Everyone seems to remember the perspective differently from the real life excursion on the pier.
