We’ve spent several Christmas vacations in Suwannee—where the Suwannee River empties into the Gulf of Mexico. On New Year’s Eve, those of us not following football games, wandered into the Town of High Springs to check out its art galleries and eccentric antique stores. This garden is located in High Springs, and on the way back for our own New Year’s celebration I couldn’t help but wonder how many locals were cooking the traditional meal—greens, black-eyed peas and hog-jowl.
