“Golden Ibis,” Tampa Bay, 2012

The Ibis is the mascot of the University of Miami’s “Hurricanes” because the ibis is usually the first bird that is spotted after a hurricane has passed. The ibis uses his long curved beak to forage small fish, and watching this charmer in the sun-setting surf I was struck by how remarkably strong his long puny legs were.
