“Auld Lang Sang,” Tallahassee 2012

I was late in my preparations for my New Year’s meal of black-eyed peas and greens and decided to get some Bradley’s Country Sausage to make up for the lack of stove time the dish typically requires. Four generations of Bradleys have been making sausage on the northern end of one of Tallahassee’s most celebrated canopy roads and I love the taste of all of the handmade foods at Bradley’s—not to mention the lovely drive out there and the crazy little store nestled in soothing scenery. This ole tire swing was just off the store’s front porch, and in the dimming twilight it reminded me of why we share our “cups of kindness” at the end of the year and sing the Robert Burns poem celebrating our collective “Old Long Since.”
