“Good To Know,” St. Marks River 2014

Just about all 36 miles of the St. Marks River south of Tallahassee are glorious. The spring fed river is a curvy, canopied celebration of my homeland — revealing everything from breathtaking natural splendors to the region’s quirky downhome charms. While the hamlet of St. Marks just may be the oldest existing river town in North America (having been developed by the Spanish as a province port in 1693), it’s a pretty safe guess this may be the oldest looking river camp on the river. Cruising the river I don’t know if I’d have the nerve to use the bathroom, but it’s good to know when it’s working and when it’s not.
